Treating Skin for Dullness
- Posted on: Nov 15 2018
Fall brings a lot of wonderful things: cozy sweaters, warm pumpkin-flavored drinks, fires burning in the fireplace, and holiday parties on the horizon. Our skin, however, may not love fall as much as we do. Cooler, drier air that comes along with a change in weather may spell dry, dull skin that may be flakey in patches. But just because our skin is reacting poorly, doesn’t mean that we can’t help it.
Fighting effects of weather can be challenging, and it’s all about finding what works for your skin. Generally, though, we can recommend a few things to help your skin stay happy and beautiful. Keep reading for some of our favorite solutions to dull, dry skin.
It’s not that our skin stops working, but summer is generally a happier time for our skin. There is usually more moisture in the air, which our skin loves. The drier fall months mean more dry, more flakey skin. Nobody wants to wake up with that!
Exfoliating once or twice a week can make a big difference in how your skin behaves in cooler months. Just make sure not to overdo it!
While you probably moisturize your skin every day, you may not know that the moisturizer you use in the summer might not be cutting it in the winter. Many of us need a thicker moisturizer to keep our skin happy in the fall and winter months. If you find your skin is still dry and dull, consider finding a richer moisturizer.
While exfoliating and moisturizing can help with dull skin, we truly believe that treatments can help make up for the difference. Chemical peels especially are adept at treating fine lines, sun spots, and hyperpigmentation that we don’t want to stick around on our faces.
Fall is also a great time to treat our skin because there’s less chance of UV damage from sun exposure. After a chemical peel, staying out of the sun is key to give you the best results.
