- Posted on: Oct 15 2018
The weather is cooling down but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook when it comes to taking care of yourself. Here comes party season, hot-tub season, and cooler-weather trips. If you’re sick and tired of shaving your legs every day, or just ready to be done with the little peach fuzz on your toes, fall is a great time to start laser hair removal treatments. But, what should you expect before your first treatment? Keep reading to learn about laser hair removal treatments.
We use the GentleMax Pro laser machine, which is tailored to hair removal, as well as removal of sun spots and veins that show up on the legs and face. This laser delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat to treat and remove unwanted hair on the body.
What can I expect during laser treatment?
The GentleMax Pro laser utilizes a small handheld piece to allow us better control when we direct the laser on your skin. Depending on the area being treated, your appointment could last a few minutes up to an hour. The larger the area, the more time it will take us to cover it with the laser. Some patients report slight discomfort during laser treatments, and we utilize Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) to help cool the skin and keep you comfortable.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
The condition of your skin and the area you want treated affect the amount of treatments you may need. Hair removal typically requires multiple treatments, as different hairs grow in different cycles.
How do I prepare for treatment?
You will need to forgo tweezing, waxing, or electrolysis for around six weeks before your laser hair removal treatments. Shaving is acceptable, though. In fact, you should shave the area before your treatment. Avoid being in the sun and tanning beds a few days before your treatment.
What do I do afterwards?
You may want a cooling pack to help with any discomfort. Avoid sunlight and tanning beds for a day or so after your treatments.
